Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Energy Processes and Materials Division (EP&MD) is actively seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer or Chemist to join our Chemical & Biological Processing (C&BP) Group. The ideal candidate will possess research expertise in process development, heterogenous catalysis, and/or reaction engineering.

 

We are looking for a candidate who has strong background in developing catalysts and processes for chemical conversion pathways and can contribute to the development of oxygenate conversion chemistry for sustainable chemicals.  You will be responsible for supporting and managing the safe operations of reactor systems.  The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership and expertise to existing research efforts, and collaborate with stakeholders to define and shape future research programs, collaborate with colleagues across the Laboratory, and with our research partners in industry, academia, and other National Laboratories, to lead efforts in building new, high-visibility research projects.  We are looking for a candidate who can enhance our team with their and petrochemical conversion expertise.



Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA and 5+ years of relevant work experience -OR-
  • MS/MA and 3+ years of relevant work experience -OR-
  • PhD with 1+ year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Chemical engineering, or chemistry with experience in process development
  • New catalyst formulations, and synthesis methods to improve catalyst performance, stability, and selectivity
  • Reaction engineering expertise, possibly with scale-up expertise
  • Experience with applied research
